Those we help

Each year, more than 1,900 young people benefit from the Foundation’s services. These are boys and girls between the ages of 0 and 18, who are in need of legal protection and who receive services from the Laval Child and Youth Protection Center.

These children have all experienced difficult episodes in their lives that have marked their development. Many have been victims of abandonment, neglect, physical or sexual abuse, or psychological mistreatment. They experience physical, psychological and cognitive developmental delays, learning difficulties, school delays and failures, mental health problems, attachment disorders and severe anxiety, as well as alcohol, drug and gambling addiction. This often leads to a lack of self-esteem, difficulties in socializing, a tendency to isolate themselves, mistrust of adults, a tendency to self-destruct and marginalize, and marked difficulties in adapting and integrating with their peers.
