I'm making a successful transition to independent adulthood

Following a period of institutionalization, some young people find themselves on their own, without the support of a family environment, faced with the challenge of becoming independent as soon as they reach the age of majority. Access to an apartment, and all the preparation, organization and equipment required to settle in properly, is a huge challenge that the Foundation can help to alleviate with the I’m making the transition to independent adulthood project!

The Foundation has set up the ” Helping Hand Baskets ” distributed to all young people leaving the Laval Youth and Child Protection Center. These baskets contain a variety of items essential for settling into an apartment. These young people also receive a $200 ” I’m doing my first grocery shopping ” gift card from the Foundation, as well as a cheque for $500 to help meet various needs when they leave.

The Foundation’s ultimate goal is to provide 3 months’ paid rent and groceries during the first year in an apartment for each of these young people!

Your donations will be put to good use in a number of ways:

  • Gift cards for the first grocery store
  • Purchase items as needed
  • Furniture and household appliance purchases
  • Financial support

What the Foundation offers you:

  • Annual report on the use of your donations
  • Visibility
  • Participation in our annual event
  • And more, depending on your involvement
